Research

ISS research is at the cutting edge of a range of development-related areas. The academic staff focus their research on various aspects and causes of the striking differences in access to power and wellbeing.

Key questions that are addressed include: What is the influence of World Bank policy on the power balance within states? How can people influence WTO negotiations? What is the impact of globalisation on the everyday life of people in rural and urban areas? Is there a feminist approach to development?

In 2008, ISS produced a brochure entitled "Ongoing Research in ISS" which provides an insight into the new organisation of research at ISS, presents the activities of staff members, describes the highlights in ongoing research and looks back at some of the special events organised to celebrate ISS' 55th anniversary year in 2007.
