Kop'ep Kevin Dabugat, Nigeria

The concepts of “Governance”, “Democratization” and “Public Policy” were well articulated and clearly explained, while their practical implications for development were extensively discussed. So to me, learning about the ISS, its multidisciplinary approach to teaching and practically oriented programs of study was like discovering a gold mine.

The school is like a miniature of the world, with people from all races and cultures of the world represented, and where everyone is ready to share and give what they came to ISS with from their own country, village or material space in the world. This particular quality made my time at the institute less of an opportunity for academic pursuit, but an opportunity to broaden my viewpoint about life in general.

Armen Varosyan, Armenia

Studying at ISS was very fruitful for me as a local government expert/practitioner. Among other useful sessions we'd taken at ISS, I particularly value theories and best practices/lessons learnt on new public management, decentralization and stakeholder analysis.

I particularly use my knowledge in new public management for piloting public-private partnership program - street overpass and/or municipal parking - in one of our partner cities, I am going to utilize the stakeholder analysis method in the process of supporting partner communities in developing their community strategic plans, also briefed on and shared materials on decentralization with my colleagues who are working on decentralization strategy of Armenia.
