23 April 2011
In an article in the Dutch news magazine, Vrij Nederland, ISS Rector Professor Leo de Haan discussed the effects the announced Dutch governement cuts in education and development cooperation could have on ISS.
ISS' student nunbers are threatened with possible cuts to the Netherlands Fellowship Programme which provides funding for many ISS students. At the same time, the minister for development cooperation, Ben Knapen, wants to make cuts in his internationsl education budget from which ISS receives its core subsidy. This could mean an overall cut of 40 per cent on the ISS budget though In the interview Professor de Haan remains positive that this will prove to be an exaggeration and that the actual cuts imposed on ISS will be much lower.
