About the Social Forum
The Social Forum is a subsidiary body of the UN Human Rights Council which seeks to promote open dialogue between the Council’s member states, civil society and intergovernmental organizations. It meets once a year.
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the UN Declaration on the Right to Development, this year the topic of the Social Forum is The promotion and effective realization of the right to development.
Karin Arts is Professor of International Law and Development at ISS.
