Publications, news and more in the latest ISS newsletter

Newsletter no. 19 January - February 2012
In the newsletter we highlight the interesting events taking place at ISS over the next couple of months. Apart from our regular Research in Progress seminars, there is also a special seminar taking place on Islamic Development Finance to be held on the occasion of the retirement of Professor Gerrie ter Haar, holder of the Chair in Religion and Development, and the launch of her new book 'Religion and Development: Ways of Transforming the World'.
You can also find out about the latest publications by our faculty and PhD researchers. And in the past few months we have also said goodbye to several long-time staff members (Ben White, Marc Wuyts, Joao Guimaraes and Peter de Valk) and no less than five of our PhD researchers have successfully defended their thesis.
ISS was also honored with a visit from the President of Mali, His Excellency Amadou Toumani Touré who delivered a speech on the democratization processes in Mali and in Africa.
Read about these and the rest of ISS news in our online newsletter.
