Recent ISS alumnus publishes in renowned Pakistani journal

Muhammad Arshad, ISS alumnus of the 2010/11 batch, recently published an article in Dawn, Pakistan's most prestigious English-language newspaper.
About the author
Muhammad Arshad was a Population, Poverty and Social Development at ISS. He graduated in December 2011 and now works with the Planning Commission of the Government of Pakistan.
The article is based on his ISS Research Paper "Does Money Matter for Women's Empowerment? A Study of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Pakistan".
In the article the author argues that women’s resources (cash subsidy and/or paid work) are necessary to enhance women’s bargaining power for independent decision making but are not sufficient unless they also ensure favourable cultural values.
