The Library of the African Studies Centre Leiden has compiled a new web dossier on Water in Africa to coincide with the international conference Water Management Issues in Africa, organized by the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC) in collaboration with the Netherlands Royal Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) in Port Louis, Mauritius, 29-31 March 2012. Water and sanitation is also one of the focal points of Dutch development cooperation policy in Africa .
The web dossier is based on the ASC library collection and contains the titles of books, articles, book chapters, DVDs and online resources on water, water supply, sanitation, water scarcity, water management, and climate change.
In addition to sections on Africa in general and African river basins, it includes sections on ‘country cases’, covering the African countries selected by the Dutch government for development cooperation in the coming years, namely Benin, Burundi, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Sudan and Uganda. The dossier starts with an introduction by Marcel Rutten, senior researcher at the ASC, and concludes with a selection of links to relevant web sites.
