Ceres summer school - call for papers

International development studies: A challenge for the future?
Call for papers
The Summer School invites academics - both members and non-members of the CERES research school - to present papers that theoretically or empirically contribute to the understanding of what it means to engage in critical development studies in a period characterized by neo-liberalism, financial restructuring, and global power shifts.
Please send your proposals for panels, papers, and posters to summerschool-ceres-fmg@uva.nl.
The deadline for submissions is April 15, 2012.
About the summer school
This Summer School hopes to take stock of new approaches for researching development issues.
Studies of this kind first of all recognize the central position of power, whether it is constructed through gender, race, economic relations, religion or ethnicity.
Secondly, such studies concern the examination of development practice from the perspective of the poor and marginalized, and the generation of alternative governance approaches.
Finally, such studies necessitate new methodologies for doing research.
