Financing Biodiversity and Ecosystems Goods and Services

As one of the leading investors in the private sector in developing countries, FMO, the Dutch Development Bank takes Sustainability seriously.  As a signatory to the Equator Principles and Implementer of the IFC Performance Standards, all FMO clients are expected to establish environmental and social management systems and seek to improve social and environmental outcomes.

More recently, FMO has been seeking ways to expand its Climate Change mandate. Continuous concern surrounding climate change, energy shortcomings and biodiversity have prompted a working group to examine financing possibilities under the umbrella of environmental investments, including sustainable forestry and payments for ecosystems services.

FMO will present a general overview of its activities in developing countries and elaborate on FMO’s climate change activities in developing countries.
