Strengthening Governance for the economic development of Pernambuco, Northeast of Brazil

Closing exhibition of World Bank-funded research project.
About the project
This World Bank-funded research project was carried out for the government of Pernambuco in Brazil looking into the local production system, the actors, the interrelations between them and the decision making process.
Specific research questions included:
- Who does what and whether they do it individually or collectively;
- who coordinates with whom and whether they do this in a relationship of competition or cooperation
- who exercises power making decisions that affect all the actors;
- how poor farmers, workers and small scale entrepreneurs can improve their social inclusion.
The project will produce a narrative that will include the study of five sectors in the state of Pernambuco (goats & sheep, dairy farming, organic family agriculture, furniture, and the creative economy), with policy recommendations and reflections. This will be made publicly available in the World Bank website.
The closing event is a presentation in one of these mega events called Expoidea, a big exhibition in the Northeast of Brasil on innovation, sustainability and technology.
