Presentation of a reflection exercise on the future of civil society

“We are not requesting a few more bucks […] but a much deeper and more systemic reform. [We seek] a change of paradigm, […] a change regarding the meaning of education.” “We are not throwing a tantrum; we want to be part of the solutions.” - Student leaders, Chile

About the meeting

Over the past year, a unique global partnership of CDRA (South Africa), EASUN (Tanzania), ICD (Uruguay), PRIA (India), INTRAC (UK) and PSO (Netherlands) worked together to explore the shifting roles, capacities, contributions and challenges facing different segments of civil society nationally and internationally.

The initiative generated stories of ‘civil society crossroads’ in 16 countries plus a number of citizens’ movements in the North and South. Reflections on preliminary findings were presented at various international conferences, such as CIVICUS 2011 & 2012, EADI 2011, ARNOVA 2011, ISTR 2012.

In partnership with the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) and with support from PSO, the Crossroads Collective will now share these stories and reflections in the Netherlands.
