'Research proposal for the RGHI: Researching Invisibility: Health Rights of Undocumented Migrants in Dutch Cities'
Abstract
Invisibility and ‘liminality’ are concepts now widely used in migrant studies and other fields. This seminar is about research on the health needs of undocumented women and men in Dutch global cities (especially The Hague and Rotterdam). The aims are (i) To establish a valid and reliable empirical overview of the health needs of undocumented migrants in Dutch global cities and the obstacles they face in accessing health care, as well as (ii) to ensure that this information is made available and is used by policy-makers, undocumented migrant organisations, and other key health stakeholders in order to contribute to good governance in health and to access to good health care as a human right for a undocumented ‘global citizens’ living in the Netherlands. In the seminar, we will talk about some ‘invisibilities’ in relation to data, health needs and undocumented people in The Netherlands.
