Research at ISS

Development studies at the ISS seeks to promote multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research and teaching; investigate and understand the multifaceted socioeconomic, cultural, political and environmental dimensions of development in a globalizing world; empower socially and economically disadvantaged groups and promote sustainable development.

To investigate these dimensions, the ISS research is organized through research groups made up of a number of staff members who together develop a research programme. The research programmes aim, through collaborative research, to profile the ISS as a leading institute in the study and research in development. The ultimate goal is to contribute to knowledge generation, add value to the ISS strategic objectives and put knowledge in the service of society.
