Henry Bernstein is Professor of Development Studies in the University of London at SOAS and Adjunct Professor in the College of Humanities and Development of the China Agricultural  University, Beijing. He was co-editor, with T.J.Byres, of the Journal of Peasant Studies from 1985-2000, and founding editor, again with T.J.Byres, of the Journal of Agrarian Change in 2001, of which he is now editor emeritus.
