Esteve Corbera
Esteve Corbera is a “Ramón y Cajal” senior research fellow at the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He is also an associate fellow at the School of International Development, University of East Anglia, and an associate lecturer at the Department of Land Economy, University of Cambridge (UK). His research interests concern the governance of land-use management for climate change mitigation, including analyses of carbon offset projects, Payments for Environmental Services programs and other climate policy related instruments, such as REDD+. He has done fieldwork in Mexico, Belize and South Africa and is starting new projects in Cameroon and Tanzania. Recently, he has received a grant from the Spanish government to continue his work on ‘carbon grabs’ and extend it to include ‘biofuel-related grabs’ in Latin America. Esteve has written several articles in academic journals, books and environmental magazines and is a member of the International Society for Ecological Economics and the International Association for the Study of the Commons. He is a Lead Author for Working Group III of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 5th Assessment Report.
