Gustavo de L. T. Oliveira is a PhD student at the Department of Geography of the University of California, Berkeley. He holds a Masters in political philosophy from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Research interests include the political ecology of agribusiness, agroecology, food sovereignty, land redistribution, and agrarian reform in Brazil, especially in the Cerrado ecosystem. His dissertation asks, does agribusiness in the Cerrado fulfill the social function of land, and what is to be done?
