Lisa Alano
Lisa Alano started as a PhD researcher at the University of Amsterdam in September 2011 as part of a larger research project on Gulf States and land grabbing in Indonesia and the Philippines coordinated by Gerben Nooteboom and Rosanne Rutten.
She is carrying out a research on Gulf States and land grabbing in the Philippines, focusing on Mindanao. Her past and current research interests include land policies, indigenous peoples, gender and agrarian change in the Philippines.
She was formerly the Executive Director of the independent research institution, Alternate Forum for Research in Mindanao (AFRIM), where she remains an associated research fellow. She wrote a master's research paper on indigenous peoples' land rights and gender relations in Mindanao for her MA degree from the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in The Hague.
