Liz Alden Wily (PhD in the political economy of African land tenure) operates as an independent consultant, variously providing land policy guidance to governments, conducting research, and initiating field programmes which integrate land conflict resolution, securement of majority land interests, and establishment of community-owned and managed forest and pastureland conservation. A consistent theme in her work is the improvement of the legal status of customary/indigenous land interests inclusive of commons and for which she has been an advocate in numerous new land policy and law developments. Most of Liz’s work has been in Africa (Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Liberia, Sudan, Ghana and Cameroon) but also in Indonesia, Pakistan, Nepal and Afghanistan. A main current research interest is how the global land rush is triggering socio-political change in host states. Liz may be contacted at lizaldenwily@remove-this.gmail.com for digital copies of books and articles.
