Roosbelinda Cárdenas
Roosbelinda Cárdenas is a PhD candidate in anthropology at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Her dissertation analyzes the moment subsequent to the triumph of black territorial politics in Colombia. It analyzes processes of (de)territorialization by looking at black communities' efforts to emplace themselves and the various pressures that produce them as displaced subjects. As such, her work lies at the intersection of critical race studies, studies of place-making and mobility, and political ecology. In addition to being an academic, she collaborates with black civil society organizations in Colombia in their efforts to protect ethnic territories and craft anti-racist public policy initiatives. She lives in Bogotá where she can be reached at rcardena@ucsc.edu
