The Secretariat of the Task Team on Civil Society Organization (CSO) Development Effectiveness and Enabling Environment is hosted at ISS.

As a multi-stakeholder coalition, the Task Team CSO works together to advance effective CSO participation in development processes. The Task Team CSO’s 30 participants come from the official donor, partner country and CSO communities.

Currently, the Task Team CSO is co-chaired by representatives from the Government of Ireland, the Government of Uganda, and the CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE).

What does the Task Team do?

The Task Team CSO believes that CSOs are key actors in development and works on furthering their effective participation in development processes. The Task Team CSO promotes and advances international commitments in this area. The focus is on the commitment to create a conducive environment for CSOs (CSO enabling environment) and the commitment on the effectiveness and accountability of CSOs themselves (CSO development effectiveness).Both need to be met for CSOs to maximize their contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Secretariat

The Secretariat is comprised of Hans de Voogd (Secretariat Manager), Vanessa de Oliveira (Senior Policy Officer), Sanne Huesken (Policy Officer) and Lieneke Paalman (Project Support Coordinator).

The Secretariat and Task Team CSO meetings and activities are funded by the Swedish International Development Co-operation Agency (SIDA) as part of a project running from 1 April 2019 – 31 March 2022.
