Post-doctoral researcher (fixed term, 2 years I FTE) in the field of Equity and Development

The Prince Claus Chair in Equity and Development (PCC) has a vacancy for a full-time post-doc researcher to work on a topic complementing its 2021-2023 research agenda.

This is a two-year starting in January 2022 to be based at the International Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, The Netherlands, with field work in South Africa or another country in the Global South. The post-doc researcher is partly funded (40%) by NWO-WOTRO Science for Global Development and 60% by ISS.

Duties

  • Writing and publishing peer-reviewed publications emanating from the research of the PCC 2021-3
  • Conducting fieldwork with the PCC in South Africa and working closely with the PCC and host of the PCC at ISS in The Netherlands
  • Strengthening and developing links with networks and organizations related to the work of the PCC 2021-3 in Europe and South Africa
  • Performing relevant PCC administrative and committee duties

Requirements

  • PhD in Development Studies or related discipline with a focus on care, environmental justice and feminist methodology
  • Ability to do sustained collaborative research
  • Strong publication record in English
  • Appropriate communication and language skills to engage with stakeholders at community, academic and policy levels
  • Availability to live and work in The Hague, The Netherlands for dedicated periods
