The Library of the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) specializes in English-language literature in the social sciences, with an emphasis on the economic and social development of developing countries and countries in transition.

On 1 July 2009 ISS became a University Institute of Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR). As a result the ISS Library became part of the Erasmus University Library.

The ISS Library is located in The Hague, see directions and contact details.

The collection includes:

  • 100,000 books and other print materials
  • over 39,000 e-journals
  • more than 350 online databases
  • online reference works
  • e-books
  • international newspapers (print and online)
  • videos

Over the past 60 years the Library acquired a substantial collection of report material, much of it ‘grey’ literature. The collection also includes the research papers and doctoral theses of all ISS participants.

The ISS collection reflects 60 years of development experience and the Erasmus University Library's strength.
