Article by recent ISS PhD graduate C. Sathyamala

Published in the Forum (Septmeber) issue of Development and Change, the article critically reviews the Global Nutrition Reports published by the International Food Policy Reseach Institute.

In this historically-grounded piece on nutrition, health and food within the (global) corporate economy, the author concludes that "while the coming together of the corporate sector and ‘development’ agencies has the potential for self-regulation, leading to a more responsible role for business in improving nutrition globally, unfortunately, the … move is towards the commercial exploitation of the problem of nutrition for growth of capital".
