The Dutch Black Scholar and Experts Conference takes place during Black Achievement Month 2023. The conference centres Black expertise and experience by highlighting ideas and (original) research from Black researchers, scholars, practitioners, students and other experts.
The conference will include presentations, videos, workshops, panel discussions and experimentation labs by researchers, scholars, practitioners and students who identify as Black and/or of African descent. Its aim is to highlight and disseminate research conducted by Black scholars in the Netherlands.Â
Programme
The programme includes presentations, documentaries, workshops and panel discussions on a wide range of topics such as:
- Heritage & Storytelling
- Black Joy in Academia Â
- Racial profiling
- Political Representation in The Netherlands
- Navigating Dutch Society while Being Deaf
- Climate Change and the Environment
- Community and Individual Health
- AI, Computer Science and Neuroscience

You must buy a ticket to attend the conference. You can view ticketing options via Eventbrite. Early bird tickets are available until 29 September. Students can attend for free. Should you attend as a student, please be sure to carry your university card/ID to the event.
Sign up as a volunteer
Do you want to help the conference to run smoothly? Then why not join us as a volunteer on the day. You could chair a panel, tend the registration desk, voluteer as a runner or offer other assistance as needed.
