Feeding Power: Food, War, Human Rights, and the Politics of Life

The 2026 Right to Food and Nutrition Watch examines food as a weapon used deliberately to coerce, displace and starve.

Right to Food and Nutrition Watch - 2026

Published by the Global Network for the Right to Food and Nutrition, this year's Watch also examines food as a source of power for the people who grow, fish, herd and produce the food that sustains everyone.

The authors argue that hunger is rarely the result of scarcity alone. More often it reflects decisions about who controls land and territories, whose knowledge is recognized, whose labour is valued, whose care is ignored and whose lives are treated as expendable.

The accessible chapters include conversations, interviews and roundtables, providing a space for dialogue and an exchange of experiences.
