Luisa Cortesi selected to the Global Young Academy

Dr Luisa Cortesi has been selected as a member of the prestigious Global Young Academy (GYA) for the period June 2025 to May 2030.

The GYA is an international academy that brings together outstanding early and mid-career researchers from across the globe to promote scientific excellence and its interface with society. With a highly selective admission process, Dr Cortesi’s selection recognises both her academic excellence and her strong commitment to engaging science with broader societal challenges.

The GYA comprises a diverse group of scholars representing over 70 countries and a wide range of disciplines, united by a shared vision of using science to create a better world. Its members work at the intersection of science, policy, and society, participating in international research collaborations, science-policy dialogues, and public engagement initiatives.

As a GYA member, Dr Cortesi will join an international network of researchers working on collaborative projects, influencing science policy, and representing young scientists in high-level fora. She will also attend the GYA’s Annual General Meeting and International Conference of Young Scientists, the 2025 edition of which will be held in Hyderabad, India. These gatherings enable GYA members to share research, develop leadership capacities, and co-create impactful initiatives.
