Passing of Godfried van Benthem van den Bergh

The International Institute of Social Studies is sad to share the passing of former ISS Associate Professor Godfried van Benthem van den Bergh at the age of 92.

Godfried played a significant role in the post-graduate diploma programme International Relations and Development (IRD), leaving a lasting impact on many alumni. 

His contributions extended beyond ISS, as he held key positions in the field of international relations. In 1973/1974, he served as a fellow at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (NIAS) and later became a member of the Advisory Council on International Affairs (AIV), an independent body providing advice to the Dutch government and parliament on foreign policy matters. Additionally, Godfried held various advisory roles, further showcasing his dedication to the field. 

Godfried van Benthem van den Bergh's legacy will be remembered by those whose lives he touched through his teachings and expertise in international relations.
