Yeshiwas Degu Belay is a PhD student at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS/EUR) and University of Iceland as a joint degree arrangement. His research aims to address how national and international actors interact in international peacekeeping settings to deal with Women, Peace and Security agenda (WPS) by taking the case of Ethiopia’s peacekeeping engagement in Africa, from historical and contemporary perspectives.
Yeshiwas holds MA in International Security (University of Groningen), MA in Development Studies (ISS/EUR), and MA in Peace and Security Studies (Addis Ababa University and Upeace). In addition, he is trained in International Gender Equality Studies postgraduate diploma at GRO GEST, University of Iceland.
Currently, he is member of research team at IHE Delft working on media, science, and water diplomacy project. Previously, he was faculty member at the College of Law and Governance of Mekelle University, Ethiopia. He performed various tasks and positions including member of research and community services executive office and coordinator of department postgraduate programs.
