Why study abroad?

Being impactful is my value of life. As a food technology student I was engaged a lot with innovations and academically rigor research to create better innovation in functional food realm. Yet, there are a lot of structural issues that are related to foods, nutrition, and environmental in Indonesia, such as stunting, food loss, and food waste. I realize that the latest research developments are not enough to help solve bigger issues if they stand independently. Relevant public policies are what I think can solve the root of the problem structurally. That is why I decided to pursue higher education abroad that allows me to understand food security, sustainability, and environmental governance from a socio-political and economic in global perspective. I believe that integrating scientific research with policy analysis will enable me to develop holistic and impactful solutions for Indonesia’s food system and environmental challenges.

Why ISS?

I choose ISS because it offers more than education, it fosters critical thinking and meaningful discussions. Specifically, AFES program aligns with my goal of addressing food security, agrarian reform, and sustainability through policy. The curriculum is challenging, pushing students to think critically and question existing systems. It’s a place where learning isn’t just about gaining knowledge but about using it to create change. Learning from diverse classmates, researchers, and activists has enriched my understanding. ISS challenges me to see problems from multiple angles and equips me with the knowledge to create real impact.

Would you recommend ISS to your friends?

Definitely! ISS is more than just a place to study, it’s a space where ideas come alive. The diversity, the engaging discussions, and the supportive environment make learning feel truly meaningful. Here, you don’t just gain knowledge, you challenge perspectives, connect with passionate people, and grow in ways you never expected. If you want to be part of a community that pushes you to think deeper and make a real impact, ISS is the perfect place.
