The Dutch Black Scholar and Expert Conference takes place during Black Achievement Month 2025. The conference centres Black expertise and experience by highlighting ideas and (original) research from Black researchers, scholars, practitioners, students and other experts.

About the Black Scholar and Expert Conference

Participants can look forward to an inspiring programme of presentations, workshops, videos, panel discussions and hands-on labs that celebrate Black scholarship and creativity. They will experience fresh perspectives, dynamic discussions and opportunities to connect with researchers, practitioners and students of African descent. 

The conference not only amplifies the contributions of Black scholars in the Netherlands but also offers participants the chance to exchange ideas, build collaborations and be part of a vibrant community of knowledge and practice. This event welcomes everyone as an attendee, especially Black students, academics, professionals, artists and allies who are passionate about equity, knowledge and community.

Students who have registered must be sure to carry their university card/ID for free entrance to the event.

The programme includes sessions in English and Dutch. Some parts may be bilingual. We aim to create a welcoming space for both language backgrounds.

Yes. The venue is wheelchair accessible and a sign language interpreter will be present during main sessions. Contact us at askdbsconference@gmail.com for other specific access needs.
