On 7 April 2020, Professor Gustavo García López will hold his inaugural lecture as latest incumbent of the Prince Claus Chair in Development and Equity.
The title of his lecture is: 'Decolonial climate futures in the Caribbean: Justice and sustainability from the frontlines of the climate crisis'
As holder of the Prince Claus Chair, Professor Gustavo García López will look into the relationship between Global Social Justice and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
He will focus specifically on the global justice component of the SDGs in order to feed into the emerging research agenda on global inequalities and inclusive societies. He will work closely with researchers at the International Institute of Social Studies and with colleagues from other universities in the Netherlands.

The Prince Claus Chair is a rotating chair. Appointments are made alternately at ISS and Utrecht University. Both institutions use the chair to promote research and education in the field of development cooperation, in accordance with the views and ideas of the late Prince Claus. The curatorium of the Prince Claus Chair is chaired by Professor Louise Gunning. Her Majesty Queen Máxima is the patron of the Prince Claus Chair.
