As international cooperation is in crisis, it is in need of a rebirth. Within the Dutch context, understanding its initial conception and the lessons learned can inform future pathways.
Based on Opheffers - a new publication by Professor van den Doel (Dean Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Universities) - this event looks back to the early start of Dutch international cooperation.
The book presentation by van den Doel will be followed by an open the discussion about what lessons can be learned and how to identify ways forward for the future of international cooperation. The event is a joint initiative between the LDE Global network, ISS and NICC.

15:35-16:00 - Past Lessons: Foundations of Dutch Development Cooperation - Presentation by Professor Wim van den Doel of his new book Opheffers: Nederlanders en het ontwikkelen van de wereld 1945-1963, in which he goes back to the early years when Dutch development cooperation took shape:
