The Global Health and Economic Development Academic Team addresses health and development challenges facing low- and middle-income countries.

The team will investigate the determinants of health disparities and scrutinize the effectiveness of health interventions, with a view to informing policies that strengthen health systems and reduce the burden of disease.

The research explores themes such as:

universal health coverage (including health equity
access to care
financial protection
health care financing, infrastructure and governance)
maternal and child health
sexual and reproductive health
the nutrition transition

The Global Health and Economic Development Academic Team also participates in the Rotterdam Global Health Initiative (RGHI), a network for global health research at Erasmus University and Erasmus MC.
