An Exercise in Worldmaking is a collection of best MA student essays written, selected and edited by the students themselves.

The essays in this collection are written by students on topics covered in their MA in Development Studies. Published annually since 2006, this collection includes chapters on:

  • Reimagining selves, society and sustenance
  • Listening to gender, voices beyond policy
  • Journeys of war and welcome
  • After development, paths towards plural worlds

The essays illustrate how a diverse student body and a host of professional and educational backgrounds, can contest, construct and redefine the notion of development; thus maintaining the contemporary social, political and economic relevance of development theory and practice.
