Climate Change, Conflict and Disasters

Climate Change, Conflict and Disasters
Participant presenting key learnings from group discussion

On 19 November 2019, Professor Thea Hilhorst, together with Marie-Jose Vervest and PhD researcher Samantha Melis, facilitated a thought-provoking session with representatives from local governance institutions and aid practitioners from all over the world

Participants joined the course provided by The Hague Academy for Local Governance, established by VNG International.

Together, we tackled the issues of ‘Climate Change, Conflict and Disasters’.

After an illuminating lecture on the interaction between climate change, conflict and disasters, and the compounding factors at the heart of the problem, the participants engaged in a lively discussion on a conflict-sensitive approach to DRR and disaster responsive in their respective countries.
