In his article, ISS Associate Professor, Andrew Fischer, discusses the differences between Tibet and Xinjiang and their reactions to the influx of Han migrants to their regions.
'He argues that, based on their respective labour transitions, Tibetans in Tibet and Uyghurs in Xinjiang have had fundamentally different experiences with state-led development in China, although despite these differences, both groups are hugely underrepresented in provincial state-sector employment (or urban unit employment more generally) relative to their population shares in both provinces.
