Honourable Hajia Alima Mahama becomes Ghana's first woman ambassador to the United States.

In this role, Mahama reaffirms several commitments of the Government of Ghana, including strengthening bilateral relations and partnering in various areas of development with the United States government. 

The accomplished ambassador brings years of expertise to her appointment, being a Barrister of Law, having served as a two-term Member of Parliament, cabinet minister of rural development and women and child affairs, and international consultant for several multinational organizations like Oxfam and Danida. 

She earned her Master of Arts in Development Studies at the International Institute of Social Studies with a specialization in Regional Development Planning.
