ISS receives grant for science communication from KNAW

KNAW science communication award

The grant comes from the pilot fund 'Science communication by scientists: appreciated!'

This fund was established to recognize groups of scientists that structurally engage in science communication. It is administered by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).

The award has been granted to the Civic Innovation research group at the International Institute of Social Studies for their work on transformative science communication. This includes their efforts in engaging research participants and partners in durable research uptake by involving policy communities, practitioners and various other non-academic audiences in knowledge communication.

The funds will be used to expand the group’s transformative science communication activities . This includes for example blogs, MOOCs, public talks and dialogues, participatory research approaches and engagement with communities, policymakers and practitioners.

About the fund

The pilot fund was established by Ingrid van Engelshoven, the Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science (OCW), to stimulate science communication and emphasize its importance as an integral part of academia.
