Jeff Handmaker speaks at the Week against racism fesival

Dr Jeff Handmaker is one of the speakers at the festival of the 5th anniversary of the Week against Racism.

The festival will reflect on the five years of the Week against Racism and on the current anti-racism policy in the Netherlands. 

It will include panels organized by grassroots intitiatives and organizations and an anti-racism fair with food, information stands, an exposition and music.

Dr Jeff Handmaker, Associate Professor at ISS, is one of the speakers on the panel Amsterdam against apartheid. Organized by Palestinian community members in the Netherlands, this panel  will draw connections between the history of the anti-apartheid movement in Amsterdam and call upon Amsterdam to stand against apartheid and end all ties with the city of Tel Aviv. 

There will be other panels on:

  • Anti-racism media test (in Dutch)
  • Hierarchies in BIPOC communities (in English)
  • Struggle of indigenous peoples and Mother Earth (in English)
  • Reclaiming East and Southeast Asian (in)visibility (in English)
