Launch of the REISS Scholarship: A New Partnership Supporting Arab Master’s Students

The  Lutfia Rabbani Foundation,  Erasmus Trustfonds, and the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) have joined forces to support students from the Arab world who have been admitted to the Master of Arts in Development Studies at the ISS, part of Erasmus University Rotterdam. We are proud to announce that we are offering an annual scholarship to an outstanding Arab Master’s student who demonstrates both academic excellence and a dedicated commitment to advancing Euro-Arab dialogue.

The REISS Scholarship will also include a mentoring program that offers the scholarship recipient guidance on a personal and professional level while also providing access to an extensive and diverse network.

About the Partners

The Lutfia Rabbani Foundation (est. 1979) is a non-profit scholarship organization with a mission of advancing Euro-Arab Dialogue and cross-cultural understanding by offering post-graduate students from the Arab world and the Netherlands a variety of scholarship opportunities. The Erasmus Trustfonds(est. 1913) is the official support fund of the Erasmus University Rotterdam who have, since their establishment, been committed to the growth and flourishing of the university and enabling initiatives such as scholarships. The International Institute of Social Studies (ISS, est. 1952), part of Erasmus University Rotterdam since 2009,  is an international institute providing education in the social sciences to postgraduate professionals, bringing together students and teachers from the Global South and the North in a European environment.

A Shared Vision for the Future

The scholarship is designed for students who not only excel in their specific fields of study but also act as ambassadors for cross-cultural understanding. This partnership is rooted in a shared belief that education is a catalyst for peace, and that sustainable progress is only possible through inclusive, multilateral cooperation. By aligning their institutional values, the three partners aim to create a lasting legacy of mutual respect and academic exchange.
