Researchers at the International Institute of Social Studies have joined Dutch agricultural organizations, environmental groups, companies and academics in their call for a substantial reform of the global agriculture and food production system.

Their concerns and ideas are expressed in this Manifesto that they offered to Dutch ministers on 24 April.

The Manifesto is a response to the Agriculture Agreement currently being discussed by the Dutch government, farmers' organizations, supply chain partners and nature and environmental organizations.

ISS researchers from the Agriculture, Food and Environment Studies MA major and the Civic Innovation research group have added their signatures to the Manifesto which calls for a substantial reform of the agriculture and food production system, both nationally and internationally.

The Dutch Agriculture Agreement reaches further than the Netherlands: offer prospects for sustainable farmers and consumers worldwide

In the Manifesto, the signatories make eight proposals to Dutch ministers including ensuring that Dutch agricultural policy does not have a negative impact on food security in the Global South, reducing the Netherlands' ecological footprint, persuing a gender-responsive agricultural policy and ensuring fair and sustainable trade agreements with countries in the Global South.
