In this new blog post on ISS blog BLISS, Roeland Hemsteede discusses the dangers of Malawi's dependence on donor funding and lack of government buy-in.
He argues that Malawi’s Social Cash Transfer Programme (SCTP) bears all signs of being donor-driven, with limited buy-in from Malawi’s political elites, with the Government of Malawi funding the transfers in just one of Malawi's 28 districts. This jeopardises the long-term future of the SCTP.
