Economist Raj Patel keynote speaker at ISS conference on Climate justice and agrarian justice.

On 4 and 5 February 2016 ISS organized an international colloquium on 'Climate justice and agrarian justice: linkages and challenges'. The keynote speaker at the colloquium was Raj Patel, professor at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas.

Whilst at ISS, Raj Patel was interviewed by Dutch broadsheet Volkskrant in which he argued that we need to oppose the power of multinationals like McDonald's. We need to rediscover good, healthy food without exploiting people or nature. Ill-health through over-consumption and an over-exploited environment are not individual problems but social problems fuelled by the power of multinational companies.
