Promoting research, education and public debate

ISS is one of the eight partners in The Hague Academic Coalition (HAC). HAC, established in 2004, promotes research, education and public debate in support of the enhancement of international law, governance and international policies and negotiations towards justice, peace and sustainable development.

    Activities carried out by HAC

    HAC activities include but are not limited to:

    • The Hague Forum for Judicial Expertise - With its partners around the world, The Hague Forum for Judicial Expertise develops and organizes tailor-made courses on a wide range of subjects in various fields of international law at basic and advanced level. The courses are specifically designed for national judges, magistrates and other professionals working in the justice sector offering them the opportunity to upgrade their knowledge and expertise in international law. Several courses took place at ISS and several ISS staff members are involved.
    • Hague Justice Portal - This portal provides up-to-date information about the activities of international courts, tribunals and other international organizations based in The Hague.
