Research ethics at ISS

An enabling environment for ethical research practice

At ISS we place great importance on ensuring that our research meets high ethical standards.

By supporting researchers to reflect on their research practice, we aim to establish an enabling environment for ethical research practice and ensure that the dignity, rights, safety and well-being of participants are considered carefully.

All research projects of academic staff and PhD researchers are carefully reviewed by the ISS Research Ethics Committee (REC) before any data collection takes place. This is in line with the policy of Erasmus University Rotterdam and the VSNU Netherlands Code of Conduct for Research Integrity as well as other codes of good practice in fields related to development studies.
