Mundus MAPP provides a unique perspective for understanding public problems.
Andrés Guzmán (Colombia)
Mundus MA in Public Policy
Name: Andrés Guzmán
Country: Colombia
Background: I am an economist and I have worked in academia and in both national and international organizations on topics related to public policy in the fields of education, pensions, official statistics, and governance.
Why study abroad?
Overall, I decided to study abroad to have an opportunity to see how others perceived similar and other problems related to my country of origin and to my previous experience. Additionally, I decided to study abroad as a way of relating and knowing different cultures and perspectives of life.
Why ISS?
I chose ISS because of its internationally recognized experience and deepness in the analysis of development and public policy topics. ISS is a small university, but this allows the connection to different people easily and through different research, teaching, and personal initiatives. Also, the supporting staff of the university provides different support and company for the student experience.
What is your experience with the Mundus MAPP so far?
My experience in Mundus MAPP has been both enriching and challenging. This program, in ISS, provides a very unique perspective towards thinking about public problems and understanding social phenomena, which is something that differentiates it from other programs in Public Policy.
What are your future plans?
I am continuing my Master in Barcelona for the second year, and after I hope to be connected to the more professional field in an international organization or NGO working on public policy analysis and providing critical insights to contribute to the understanding of public problems.
