Study and relax in the ISS Library

The quiet atmosphere in the ISS Library ensures an inspiring and pleasant study environment. We have different types of study spaces to match your study needs. And no need to leave the library whenever you want a short break! Head to our library lounge, which you can easily recognize by the red sofas. We offer you several facilities to recharge there, so you'll be ready to go.

There ISS Library has several study areas:

  • A silent area with individual study spots. Head left after entering the library and pass the swing doors.
  • A non-silent area with group tables, individual study spots, and study spots with PCs and computer screens. Head right after entering the library.
  • A non-silent area with individual study spots and study spaces with PCs and computer screens. This area has more daylight. Go up the stairs next to the information desk.
  • A sound-proof group work space with large screen and meeting table. This space has more daylight. Go up the stairs next to the information desk.
  • A non-silent area with two sound-muffling work-booths and group spaces with meeting tables and sound-muffling screens. Head left after entering the library and turn left halfway through the hallway.

The ISS Library lounge contains various options to relax and support your wellbeing:

  • Our Reading Without Borders collection (RWB) consists of fiction from across the world translated into English, offering our readers an opportunity to get to know each other’s cultural hinterland.
  • Our Wellbeing Book collection (WBC) includes titles on study related stress, but also on self-love, happiness, and belonging. The collection core are its (text and graphic) print books, which you can find on the glass shelves, but also includes other formats. QR-links to the e-books and audio-books are posted on the wall.
  • We offer various relaxing activities: a large communal jigsaw puzzle, chess game, adult colouring pages, fidget puzzles, and magazines for light reading.
  • In the windows, you will find QR-codes to selected books in Libby, the app featuring a growing collection of e-books and audiobooks. Download the Libby app to check out these books and find more.
