Dutch universities and SDGs

Dutch universities are actively contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This has resulted in an e‑zine that was produced by the VSNU, Association of Universities, and recently handed over to Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Sigrid Kaag. The e-zine describes the combined efforts of the universities towards achieving the SDGs over the past years.

Erasmus University and ISS have substantially contributed to the e-zine and we are proud of all the research output that can be shared this way.

All info is included in the list of contributions per SDG on the VSNU website.

Contributions of ISS researchers are reflected in these interviews:

Jeff Handmaker - Sometimes you have to pressure a state or a multinational company if you want them to comply with human rights

Lorenzo Pellegrini - The ears and eyes of the Amazon

Wendy Harcourt - How are communities responding to climate crisis, and what can we learn from them?

Oane Visser - Agricultural technology offers enormous opportunities for sustainability and feeding the world. But it also comes with risks

Peter Knorringa - How do you make products and services accessible to millions of people with a minimum income?

Thea Hilhorst - Climate change is associated with an increase in disasters
