Underground fossil fuel reserves for socio-environmental benefits

Lorenzo Pellegrini
Dr Lorenzo Pellegrini

Associate Professor Lorenzo Pellegrini will give a presentation entitled 'A Geospatial Approach to Identify Unburnable Fossil Fuels' at the The Ten Most Pressing Gaps in Research on Environmental Policy: A Global Research Planning Competition, Yale Kempf Memorial Fund, Yale University, 6-8 Sept. 2019

The presentation will describe a proposal to develop a methodology to prioritize locations, on a global scale, where fossil fuel reserves are to be left under the soil in order to enhance the socio‐environmental benefits of climate change mitigation policies.

This methodology will be matched with GIS instruments to generate atlases of ‘unburnable’ fossil fuel reserves.
