Collaboration with University of Indonesia
Opening joint minor 'Co-creating sustainable practices in and beyond the Indonesian City'

Dr Oane Visser gave the opening lecture for a new joint Leiden-Delft-Erasmus and University of Indonesia minor on Co-creating sustainable practices in and beyond the Indonesian City.

Dr Oane Visser gave the opening lecture for the new joint minor by the Leiden, Delft and Erasmus Universities alliance (LDE) together with University of Indonesia  (UI) in Jakarta on Indonesia's future challenges.

Almost 30 students from LDE and Indonesia, from a wide range of disciplines will intensively study together for a term in courses jointly taught by lecturers from Indonesia and from Leiden University (Bart Barendregt) and the International Institute of Social Studies (Oane Visser).

The minor is entitled 'Co-creating sustainable practices in and beyond the Indonesian city'. It examines what global developments such as urbanization, rising food insecurity, digitalization, climate change and sea level rise mean for Indonesia, as a multi-ethnic, archipelagic state with a rapidly growing economic importance within Asia.

The minor is part of the 'LDE global' programme, that consists of joint research and education together with counterparts in the 'Majority World'.
